A VPN connection does not matter if you use LAN or WLAN. VPN stands for Virtual Privates Netzwerk and is offered by many providers in different forms. Here are some examples

  • Speed for a faster connection alleged
  • Antivirus for more protection
  • Geolocking for Netflix and Ko.

Your phone/PC connects to the server of the respective provider. This makes it seem like you’re somewhere different from real… And the connection becomes more or less secure because the other people in the WLAN can no longer see you properly, but the server from the provider could otherwise do something with your data.
