Can bullying at ages 8-14 trigger OSDD/DID?
Hello,
I recently came across the topic of DID AND OSDD and wondered if things like bullying in elementary/middle school can also trigger these illnesses.
Since the disorders mentioned above are triggered by a non-formation of a personality through trauma, and the personality changes significantly during puberty, I wanted to find out whether OSDD/DIS can also develop at this age.
Basically, I’d see it like that here is also something from the German doctors’ sheet (from 2006 already) on the topic. Mobbing especially in childhood and early youth can have similar effects as abuse of all kinds, especially since it is often still distorted and distorted (“do not take you so”) and rarely just a proper work-up takes place. As a volunteer, I had to deal with bullying victims and such cases, where it is obvious that such disorders, including fears and depressions, or such symptoms, were clearly present and certainly not just came into play.
Thank you.
A DIS can only arise until the age of 5. However, if you have already developed it as a child, you can also later split off through more traumas such as bullying.
Hello, I have a dissociative disorder myself. In my therapy, we talked a lot about whether something bad happened to me as a child. I just remember the heavy mobbing. It was between 10-16. My family has never done anything bad to me so I could say it’s just mobbing. Dissociative disorder usually does not occur as the only diagnosis. Mostly with depression and co. I guess it’s gonna happen. Otherwise I wouldn’t have you. You can also develop a PTBS. It depends on the extent of bullying.
LG
A DIS is usually created by an extreme of trauma. I know that bullying doesn’t really belong to it. According to diagnosis, bullying does not lead to a post-traumatic stress disorder.
Secondly, I can rule out that I have actually developed a K-PTBS due to bullying.
So I also have a (k)PTBS due to bullying and other circumstances. The k in clips because there is no official kPTBS diagnosis in Germany. I was told
Not directly through the mobbing but the circumstances. Physical violence involved in bullying
In fact, my physical violence was hardly present. Complete social isolation by Mobber is also unsightly.
The kPTBS is not yet in the ICD-11, but if someone is diagnosed with a PTBS, psychologists/psychiaters often communicate that it would fall under kPTBS, this diagnosis would already be in the ICD-11.
