Alprazolam is not water-soluble and thus cannot be absorbed by the nasal mucosa.

What is achieved with the nasal consumption of alprazolam is a nose cloged with tablet fillers, a slower action (you have to wait until the whole stuff runs down the throat and lands in the stomach where it can interact with the stomach acid) as well as a weaker effect (not everything runs down the throat but is then cleaned out sooner or later).

Note: Alprazolam (Xanax/Xanor/Tafil) is a drug from the group of benzodiazepines which is primarily used in severe psychiatric anxiety. Due to the high dependence potential of benzodiazepines, treatment with alprazolam should be too short and as low as possible.
