Calls always go. But just in the rural area, the supply is rather bad at night. If there are not enough customers there can be no one working.

You can also call earlier and reserve for the time.

Addendum: You can call a taxi from the next big city in the rural area. They may not be a problem, but you may have more costs if they have to come 30 or so km.

I’ve never done it.

Yes there is always a taxi you may have to wait when the next taxi is 30 kilometers away. Additional costs for the arrival do not apply

You can call. Whether someone comes depends on the respective taxi company.
