This goes when the other hard drive is empty. Look at Youtube after a tutorial to clone hard drives, there are very simple tools for on the internet. This then copies all the data of the old hard drive to the new one, so that you only have to change the bios, from which hard drive is booted and if everything works then format the old hard drive so that it is empty again.

The operating system is stationary.

that’s not quite right…

You can “clon” a complete operating system. I can also virtualize them and for that it is even quite sensible to have a cloning as backup
