Can I boot cloned hard drives with AOMEI Backupper?
Hello,
I want to clone my hard drive to an external drive using AOMEI Backupper. Since I want to clone Windows 10 as well, I was wondering if the "Disk Clone" feature would work. There's a system clone feature, but is it worth purchasing the Pro version for just one hard drive?
Hello
You can also clone Windows to an external USB hard drive, only cannot be booted from it. When you try to boot Windows from the USB hard drive, the start process will stop after loading the Windows Kernel, with the error message that can not be accessed on …./system32/config…, i.e. the system registry of Windows.
This is because after loading the Windows Kernel, it takes over and continues the boot process from the BIOS/UEFI. Host adapter drivers are loaded as first hard drives so that the Windows Kernel can continue accessing the system hard drive and continue the boot process. Only the boot hard drive is not located on a hard disk host adapter, i.e. on a “hard disk port”, but on a USB port. However, since no USB drivers are loaded at this point in the boot process, the start process cannot be continued and cancels with an error message.
It is also not possible to install Windows to a USB hard drive via normal installation.
What would happen would be if you built the hard drive internally after cloning. Then the clone can also be booted.

You should clone the disk so that it matches the old one from the partitions and files.
I don’t know how far the clasp is working.
But if the above is cloned, it would have to go.
