Not at all. in itself is quite different from Berlin

Berlin is just cracked. There is something like this in the Ruhr area here and there is not to the extent as in Berlin

As a boy from the Essen North, or Essen Vogelheim, I find Berlin not nearly as polluted as the Ruhr area and I speak from experience as I lived in Berlin for five years. Only this year I moved back to the dirty Essen North, which I meanwhile regret more. My family, the RWE and beautiful memories from my childhood make the dirty and spooky Essen North bearable.

If you can do it, both of them are grounded.

I actually find Berlin more worth living. I lived in Berlin for five years and regret to have moved to Essen again. In the Essen North you get a cultural shock yourself as a Berliner. I would never have thought that it was like this and that I say as a child of the Ruhrpott who lived in the Essen North until his 26th year of life.
