From my point of view, depends on what you want to save.

With normal code that should not contain any protective information, I do not see a problem.

In the case of protective data, however, I see problems.

Host a Gitlab server locally in your company or nutze codeberg.org – a German github.

If it’s urgently github, ask your boss what he means…

So at your point, I would read the guidelines once or ask them in support, but if you work in a company and are not even the leader, think Github is forbidden
