Is it possible that my vagina has become tighter?

Hello everyone, I haven't had sexual intercourse for a year in 2020.

Until I met my boyfriend. We're in a long-distance relationship, so we don't have sex regularly. But every time we see each other, it hurts a lot the first few times.

Also (I don't know if it's just me) I can't use tampons anymore because it really hurts when I put them in.

My question was whether it was normal and what I could possibly do about it?
