Rabbits gnawing on wood?
Hello, I have two rabbits, and they're both constantly chewing on the wood of their cages. My father did this on the sides from below to make the outdoor enclosure more stable. They have two large cages, so there's plenty of space. I've also put out some pegs for them that they no longer use. What could be causing this? What else can I do?
Rabbits / guinea pigs / hamsters etc must nail.
That’s why “Nagetiere”.
The animals thus do not shorten their teeth or grow.
Actually scissors rabbits etc with their paws to shorten the claws.
You can see what the animals wear so much.
Our rabbits always had carrots, carrot green, salad, cucumbers, etc. And were also satisfied with this, your bunnies probably still have a stronger urge ( teeth grow = itching, and that for a whole life in rodents) maybe there are so woods or something in the zoo business that are compatible and intended for. Just don’t give a lick..🫣
all good 🍀
Rabbits are not rodents.
Nagetrieb is congenital. Rabbit teeth grow for a lifetime, and if the animals do not have the opportunity to use their teeth by nagging/grinding movements, there are misplacements.
Help.
I have deposited my rabbit in a corner with a rice buffalo of fruit tree branches, which is very welcome.
After a few days, the rice must be replaced with fresh branch.
How much do they have 24/7? Boring can be a reason, for example, because the interior is not varied, it also offers suitable branches and leaves for eating. But rodents are not, but rabbits.
That’s normal. You can do them sticks in (must googlen from which tree they are allowed) and in each case they need hay, enough space and employment. Then maybe leave the cage soon in peace xD
Rabbits are rodents, the rod is innate to them. Offer them other rodents that are as firm as the wood.
Do you have any ideas that could be?
