Give rabbits more freedom?

(I'm asking for someone else.) We took in rabbits that came from very poor conditions and had spent their lives in an enclosure where they couldn't even turn around. When I opened their cage in the garden, they were afraid to jump out. When we tried to lift them out, they resisted. How do I get them to move around in the garden? I want them to at least have a pleasant time for the rest of their lives.

Give rabbit more freewheel?

🐰

It’s great that you want to give the rabbit a better life. 🤍

You should be aware that the possibility of free running around for the rabbits is something completely new, something they have not known yet. You just need some time to get used to it.

Offer the rabbit in the runout many hiding options to make them feel safer.

Just let the rabbits do it. Lifting up etc. is not a good idea. Let them come and someday they’ll get out.

Solid, durable, safe (!) cradles in which they should live day and night. There offer many hiding options for the beginning, also the food at many different places and especially within the hiding possibilities. Then put in this cradle – and let them just come and do it!

What is absolutely not a good idea in such a situation is temporary freewheel under supervision in the garden or something. This temporary freewheeling means a change of the precinct every time – and is therefore an absolutely threatening, super dangerous situation from the perspective of rabbits, because behind each tree a fress enemy could be lurking!

Also lifting up – also “just short” for lifting out – is an absolute panic moment for rabbits. They are raised in nature only when the Fressfeind caught them… So also absolutely avoid that!

Hello 🤗🙋🏽

It’s nice to take care of you, but to lift the rabbits out is not a sensible solution.

For a rabbit you need at least 3 square meters day and night, you can calculate how much you need with the respective number of rabbits.

If the rabbits are to live outside, they’ll need a fixed cradle. If there is no solid ground, at least one grating must be buried under the earth so that they do not dig out. Upstairs, of course, have to have a roof on it so that they are protected from birds of prey.

Greetings, I hope I could help you

Hey.

It is best not to raise them, because rabbits generally do not like this. The best way to make the rabbits easy. Rabbits are very curious and at some point they will probably overcome their fears. You could also open the cage door and sit next to it with a book (Yt mi head tube also goes) and wait. Your rabbits get used to your presence and eventually probably dare to step into the garden. Be careful and look for cats and other animals that can attack your rabbits. Hope I could help you.

Good evening,

best of all, you increase the range gradually.

The rabbits are supposed to get time, such a change may be quite stressful.

It is also important to reward the rabbits positively and to establish a relationship with them.

Greetings.

build them a large cradle, walkable would be optimal. This is a shed that is always open so that they can use the outlet itself determining when. Lifting out is always stress for these animals. Great ideas on the Internet when you enter outdoor enclosures rabbits and click on pictures.
