Because you’re trying to keep 2 fighting fish that you hold individually in a basin. It doesn’t happen outside of the pairing period, they’ll break each other.

Then have survived for quite a long time, but at some point it will end up with it then are grown, incompatible and naturally weakened by permanent stress and withdraw (giving up) which often leads to starving because no longer comes from the hidden ones that will naturally not reach their age as it would normally be. An aquarium now does not replace an overflooded rice field, it is smaller, greller and fuller, in nature the fish would have only a few cm view that would not be worthwhile in the aquarium for us 😅

That’s a male and a female a couple. :- You can keep them together. Just not two males.
