As Paracelsius said:

THE QUALITY

  • The normal value is between 2.09 – 2.54 mmol/l.
  • From calcium values of more than 2.7 mmol/l (Millimol per liter of blood), the first signs are usually used.
  • If the values rise to 3 mmol/l and above, severe symptoms occur. We are talking about a hypercalcemic crisis at a value of 3.5 mmol/l, which is an emergency and requires immediate treatment. The condition is life-threatening.

Hyperkalzemia – Overview of symptoms

The symptoms of hypercalcemia can be found in several organs: the digestive tract, heart, nervous system, muscles and kidneys. The following symptoms may indicate an increased calcium level:

  • Gastrointestinal tract: cravings, nausea, vomiting, constipation, abdominal pain, pancreas, stomach ulcer
  • Kidneys: large thirst, frequent urination, nightly urination, drying out, kidney stones
  • Heart: Heart rhythm disorders, high blood pressure, changes in electrocardiogram (ECG)
  • nervous system and muscles: tiredness, fatigue, powerlessness, reduced performance, muscle weakness, reduced reflexes, concentration disorders, depression, confusion, disorientation, behavioral disorders, consciousness exercise, coma

An increased calcium level > hyperkalemia and a reduced calcium level > hypokaliaemie requires medical clarification.

Not a normal value. The reference value of serum calcium is about 2.2-2.65 mmol/l.

Not if the value is in the standard range.
