Is Starlink good for gaming?
Unfortunately, I can't get internet access via cables because the cables were damaged by construction workers. I've been trying to get my landlord to finally install new cables for two years so I can get at least a decent internet connection. Yesterday I heard something about Starlink and did a bit of research. There are many different opinions. Now I'm interested in your experience with Starlink. Is it suitable for gaming or streaming?
For Starlink you need to mount an antenna/satellite bowl of Starlink so on the house that the antenna has free vision of the sky in all directions.
If it’s not your house, it’ll be problematic.
Let me give you a proper counsel. imho you have a right to a reasonable internet connection. And if you already have internet lines and are damaged and the landlord refuses to repair them, you can legally commit them or claim a lease reduction. But make sure that you are advised by a lawyer for rental right beforehand!
Buddies used to have sateliteninternet… bad ping, and depending on the load, the data rates fluctuate. Package losses were also not rare. 4G or 5G emergency by external antenna
We are currently using Vodafone that “Wlan from the outlet” or “Gigacube”. You’ll get a router with a plug that you just connect to the power. There’s internet. However, our reception there is bad, that is, the router cannot catch a good Internet, which he can give us. In retrospect, I just picked up a new Sim card this time from o2 and continued to be smart internet. What do I have for alternatives if Starlink is not a good option?
normal satellite internet has these problems, but Starlink is something else, because the satellites are very low/flying and thus the laths are much lower.
Yes, the good starlink can also be used for zoking.
But since you have a rental apartment, I doubt that the antenna can be set up well, unless you have cleared anything with your landlord.
I recently read a discussion about it, there was reported by a fluctuating ping of 50-100ms in games. So not optimal, but for something like CoOp okay.
Mobile phone might work better.
