Try out, the predecessor Luminar AI got free now. However, in my opinion, the programme is slow. Simply only change the white balance until 1 takes some 3-4 seconds on nem PC with middle bank processor and graphics power. Here is the free version:

Luminar AI – Edit your Photos With Automatic Modes Supported By AI (skylum.com)

Luminar Neo is bit faster, but it seems to me that Luminar will release new versions every year to invest money again. At Neo, plugins are now constantly coming, for which one should also laugh.

In fact, the question is whether you’re not better off with Adobe, as you get Photoshop in the Creative Cloud Foto Abo for only 12€ a month. And don’t pay for new versions. So 2 programs for 144€ a year. At Luminar you currently pay 99€ for Neo and all plugins.

However, both are very different software, Neo is more aimed at beginners and it is much easier to get certain looks. Photoshop/Lightroom is more difficult but very versatile and you can do as well as everything, even use 3D models in pictures.

both are different applications that differ in detail. I bought both, Lightroom first and many years ago, stayed there on the locally installed V6.14. Luminar then changed to Neo a few years ago (an earlier version). Yes, Luminar is worth it. The first version is still down and down on Mac as soon as I edited RAW. In Neo, I have not observed this so far, and I’m rather working on the JPEG. I did not buy the additional “Gadgets”, but I am very satisfied with the current functionalities. Small smears at the AI that exchanges the sky, as it made the whole picture somewhat too dark in my previous attempts (possibly it was mine).

For special editing in the RAW, but also for cataloging, I still go back to my “old” lightroom.

Oh, yeah, I just use it as a software on the Mac. No subscription service.

Luminar is currently the best alternative to Lightroom – for starters!

Here is a detailed comparison:
