Is lying okay if it's not bad?
I got my German exam back last Friday and got a first (a -5). I didn't tell my parents, but I planned to tell them on Monday. By chance, they found out (today) and said I was lying and that it was awful. Personally, I don't think it was a bad lie because they would have found out today anyway. I've had a whole discussion about it, and now I'm not sure if it really wasn't as bad as I think it was…
Lies, in my opinion, are okay if you can help another person. If you lie to save your own skin and make it even worse aka
I find it cowardly.
Whether you really lied, or “just” concealed the truth. The scholars are happy to argue about this.
The fact that your parents are mad at you is also less about it, but rather that they are disappointed by you that you did not have the Cochondres in the Pantalone to tell your parents about the disaster.
My parents educated me in the belief that there is nothing you can’t trust parents. Nevertheless, I still have the one or the other half of them.

Theoretically, you didn’t lie, but you didn’t tell. You obviously wanted to say it at a later time because you thought it was better.
However, I can also understand your parents because one expects sincerity and trust in one family. Apparently, your parents were disappointed that you didn’t trust them directly.
