Is it possible to design furniture, machines, etc. with Archicad (18)?
This does not mean that I want to create small objects for a construction drawing, but rather pure construction drawings to be cut out using a laser or printed with a 3D printer.
What's the easiest way to do this? I managed to roughly construct a small box using morphs and free surfaces, but I don't know how to draw the hinge, for example. It doesn't work using morphs, free surfaces, supports, and beams.
If that's not possible, is there a similar program to Archicad for design drawings that's free/cheap? I've tried the free version of Autodesk Fusion 360, but compared to Archicad, I find it much more complicated and can't quite get the hang of it.
Thank you!
Yes, it is possible to construct furniture, machines or similar objects with Archicad (18) even if it is not small objects for construction drawings. In order to create such design drawings, which can then be cut out by laser or printed with a 3D printer, there are various approaches.
You mentioned that you could construct a box with morphs and open spaces. To draw more complex objects like hinges, you could try to use specific BIM elements or work with custom profiles. These make it possible to create more detailed designs and to present specific components such as hinges more precisely.
If you don’t get the desired results with Archicad or look for an alternative, you could consider programs like SketchUp, FreeCAD or Blender. These programs offer similar functions as Archicad, are partly free or cost less and could help you create design drawings.
It is important to try and see different programs that best suits your requirements and skills. In another program, you might find a more intuitive user interface or specific features that help you build objects.
