It is not forbidden, but also not allowed.

The Central Association of Zoological Specialist Companies in Germany has set goldfish glasses to the negative list of products in which there are doubts about the conformity to § 2 Animal Protection Act. The position of fish in such a glass was classified as animal torture.

It therefore contradicts the paragraph that prescribes an animal-friendly attitude. Consequently, fines may arise in the form of fines. A non-articular attitude, regardless of species, is conscious animal torture. And that is ultimately forbidden.

No, it’s not allowed. It’s illegal. Also: It does not work.

Goldfish glasses are too small.

Goldfish are the same. You should never hold less than 4 pieces or at best a pair – you can’t easily see the 4 pieces minimum.

A goldfish can quickly get breathing problems in a goldfish glass because of too little water volume. A proper feeding spoils every single time (!) foreseeable the whole water, then it becomes bad and must be exchanged daily (!) to 100%. In addition, there is insufficient freedom of movement.

The pelvic size is regulated in the opinion of the BMEL;

https://www.bmel.de/DE/themes/tierschutz/haltung-zierfische.html

Here, 200 l and 100 cm length are mentioned as a minimum.

You can probably go a little bit below it without being condemned in a case of doubt, if anything ever lands in court.

But if one wanted to keep gold fish of the stretched forms permanently below 90..100 liters, then as a hobbyist one is clearly beyond the animal welfare law. Even in the laboratory, if one wanted to hold goldfish there unusually and could justify all this with research and effort- one would use extremely heavily filtered small aquariums a 54 l or 38 l- because everything under it works quite badly for such large fish. Goldfish reach easy 18 cm length and more.

So: No, that’s not allowed.

Prohibitions are not illegal, but it is not for the sake of fish, there is no law that prohibits them.

A goldfish glass that holds 1000l of water should be fine (what you have to find and have space for it :P), but these 30-40l things are animal torture of the highest degree… the animal gets a twist.

Especially the glass is not forbidden, but animal tormenting is prohibited, so I have taken such an exaggerated measure at the top, in a huge gold fishing glass, where the fish can not only swim the round, there is no problem, but there is no such thing to buy, at least this would not be known to me.

Well, then you need a very big goldfish glass….and this is probably not.

If you want to have an aquarium with glass optics, you can also have one yourself Aluminium or so build.

It is not prohibited by law, but anything other than art-friendly.

With us this is even quite forbidden according to the animal dealer. Since this would be animal torture and the animal from hot water to cold water would not be pumped.

does not prohibit, however, a miserable, irresponsible and cruel attitude
