Is the training method good?

As I wrote a long time ago, in the long term I will have to ride my horse alone. I have done that several times. Problem: He won't leave the yard. My riding instructor encourages us to use the riding arena and does trailer training. Now a friend has offered to help and said we need to assert ourselves more. She was here today. I was really surprised it worked. Since we don't go in the woods because of insect alarms, we can ride a distance of at least 500m from the paddock to the woods. A track directly from our stable. My horse was given clear instructions to buck twice or kick out and then it went like clockwork. I also rode her the distance three times. No alarm!

How long do you think it will take until it works 100%?

Just ride unimpressed!

That’s all.

“good” is always relatively considered.

Clear instructions/signals should be mandatory anyway – a certain competence should be brought to the horse as a horse owner.

Your girlfriend ran up with the clear statement where you were just too uncertain. As the consequence remains and applies to you, build more self-confidence, the consequence is the key. Without violence, just consequence and leadership.

Horse understood what to do. It also understood it’s coming back. It doesn’t have to worry. Basic stock laid. Now it’s a matter of practice on the rider, on you, to remain consistent. Demands will be a few more times /always again….

That depends on why the horse doesn’t want it.

I’m sure it’s good as long as it stays free of violence.

How long it will take until you have no more problems with it, no one can answer you, as even horses are individuals.
