This depends entirely on the definition of “Germany”.

1990 – Federal Republic of Germany in its current borders (by reunification/connection of East German Länder)

1949 – Federal Republic of Germany (and Basic Law)

1918 – first democratic state with the foundation of the Weimar Republic

1871 – first explicitly German nation state with the Empire (under Prussian leadership)

From Karl the Great (years 800) to 1806 ( Napoleonic Wars) there was the so-called “Holy Roman Empire”, later extended as “Holy Roman Empire of the German Nation” – this sometimes rather loose nation of states with changing borders, however, is somewhat dared…

As a nation state with common emperor since 1871. The Austrian emperor, by the way, thanked the German emperor in November 1918.

Since 1871 and not 1901, but yes, Germany is still relatively young compared to other European countries.

Germany as a unit has been with the North German Federation since 1867. From this the German Empire has emerged that still remains as a Federal Republic.

Before that, it was just a collection of small countries.

No, you’re in the 10. Search for the century.

Well, thirty years, DE is older, that is, 1871, but still a young state, which has an alternating history and apparently continues to operate it when you look at it.

Why must it always want to play the first violin in every conflict, knowing how this always ends?

You seem to live in Austria, so you’ll get the word that’s already spoken again, mainly in DE and the departure from the neutrality to Nato. So it’s just that the next mess could not become the Eurige?

From the name, you could also drive it to the top.

Germany has been named since 15. century used, but has been witnessed in individual pieces; in the Frankfurt translation of the Golden Bull (about 1365) it is called Dutschelant.
