Is the Mitsubishi Carisma good?

Hello!

I'm Max, 22, and I'm looking for a cheap student car that I can drive for 2 years, maybe 4.

Yesterday, I was offered a 2002 Mitsubishi Carisma automatic with 105,000 kilometers, driven by an elderly man. The car seems practical and functional; it's a hatchback with a large trunk. It's supposed to cost €1,300 with a new MOT and is from a private seller; the man had bought a smaller car.

Is the Carisma a good car and recommendable? Are there any special features to consider with the automatic transmission?

The carisma is not recommended. What kind of engine does he have? Get away from the direct injector, it’s expensive trouble.

Good choice, the 1.6 without GDI is much easier.

I had a charisma. A good car, and as you said, a big trunk. If that’s one with gdi engine, it can be that he might make you some problems with coked throttle valves. This coking results from the exhaust gas recirculation system. This makes it noticeable that he is starting to accelerate strongly. Some Mitsubishi workshops have an extra cleaning device for it. You can look at it yourself and also saber when you cut off the air filter box and the intake tract. On the Internet there are instructions for this

Hello, Max.

my brother once had such a —–> badly the car was not, from the folding, luscious processing. It was a spacious middle-class car and the tail made it basically a small combination.

My brother had a 2004 1.9 DI-D “Elegance”, the car served him reliably and he was satisfied with it. I also drove Mitsubishi occasionally and didn’t find him bad, he drove himself crisp and comfortable at the same time. The diesel was very economical, under six litres went.

However, the spare parts are not cheap and the value loss is high, we could only export the Mitsubishi Charisma for 500 euros despite the good condition and moderate running performance in 2016, because the genuine nobody wanted :/ Will say —-> you should negotiate something and for 1000 euros it will certainly go away, the interest is very behaving with this Japanese built in Holland also because many do not know it.

If the price is correct, the gear change is detectable and the car is otherwise okay, you should not make a mistake with the charisma. Automatic is also not sooo difficult to drive. The first days you will miss the left pedal (coupling) and very sharply decelerate because you step on the brake with full force, but that will lie down:)

…then I wish you “good ride” 🙂

In principle, it’s all right and doesn’t look bad. I could imagine, however, that if something is broken, it becomes more difficult to get spare parts for it, as this is a rare car in this country.

You can get those parts without problems.
