Is this tea or spice?

I got this as a gift. And I'm not sure if he meant I should chew and swallow it or smoke it. I smoke weed, but I don't know much about spice.
And afterward, strangely enough, he said he wanted to come later. Before that, he called and asked if I'd taken it, so to speak, and I said no, and then he didn't want to come. 😀

On Google they say either tea or spice.

I chewed a little bit and it tasted almost like nothing, but like there was a tiny bit of salt in it. Or maybe it was my finger, I didn't know.

A small piece, when lit, smells like a smoker and wood. (To me, it's a rather smelly smell.)
