Is this an alcohol problem?

My father drinks 3-3.5 liters of beer a day. He drinks this over a period of about 6-8 hours, from midday until evening, right up until he goes to bed.

He doesn't see the problem himself, and neither does my mother. Vodka and schnapps are bad. Beer doesn't have much alcohol.

Yeah, that’s 6-7 bottles of beer every day. There you can definitely talk about alcohol dependence, even if beer does not contain so much alcohol per se, but with the amount of beer in conjunction with regularity, it is already a dependency.

In addition, it is not counted as a liquid supply.

Alcohol extracts a lot of water from the body because it is more common in the toilet.

Ufff yes, this is a problem of alcohol. The completely false and outdated worldview that beer would be a “basic food” and therefore not harmful, probably plays a major role here.

Try a clarifying conversation. possibly also with other relatives than help

It’s still his problem, no matter how many times you’re upset about it. Without your father being aware of his alcohol problem, he will not change his behaviour.

You can’t do anything. It only comes to your father.

Then you should go to a doctor. Such MASSIVEN memory disorders can indicate neurological problems.

So not your father has the problem, you have and are the problem.

It doesn’t matter if your father drinks beer, wine or liquor.

With the amount he drinks daily, he is alcoholic and he destroys his liver as well as someone else’s alcohol increases daily.

In this quantity, it is difficult to handle alcohol and it will be used for short or long.

I once had a working mate who drank a box of beer every night in front of the TV and who finally died of a liver cirrhosis.

Yes, yes. But you’re not the only one who has such a guy as a father! 1.5 liters “often” still occurs. 3 liters is above average.

Yeah, it is. Drinking beer every day makes you an alcoholic as well as drinking hard alcohol.

And it’s still none of your business!

Your father has an alcohol problem, only he doesn’t see it yet. If he doesn’t have a problem, he can certainly do without the alcohol for a day. It’s simple. That your mother still supports it, doesn’t make it easier

Yes, but we have often discussed this enough.
