Is 175 DSL bandwidth from Telekom better than 250 cable from Vodafone?
Hello, I currently have a cable contract with Vodafone with a 250 Mbps speed, but the internet connection is often poor. I want to switch to DSL, but my home only supports DSL speeds up to 175 Mbps. Is it worth switching, or is 175 Mbps DSL also poor? And is it suitable for students?
If you live in a larger multi-family house and there are many Vodafone cable customers in this, then that can be the cause.
At DSL everyone gets their own line to the house and doesn’t have to share it with anyone.
With cable internet only one line or sometimes a second comes into the house and is then distributed over several apartments.
If it is claimed at the same time by several or many customers at the same time, then it is not rare that the transmission limit of the line is reached and the transmission speed can thereby break down significantly.
This is the kind of technology. DSL has clearly better possibilities.
If your internet is bad, with phones and laptops etc.
So Wi-Fi, then NOT your provider’s fault or can change what.
This is a connection between router and your terminals.
If you want to see and see the actual speed, look at the surface of your box, there is the actual speed.
Vodafone and Telekom almost don’t care, both supply the same speed as the line.
But here too, I can assume that it belongs to Deutsche Telekom.
The difference is due to the disorder if there is a (right) fault.
At Deutsche Telekom you call and in the best case it is fixed or felt the same day or next morning a technician is on site and fixes it.
In Vodafone this is, let’s say it lasts longer until it can be undisturbed.
he has a cable contract with Vodafone, it has nothing to do with Deutsche Telekom.
The network belongs to Vodafone and there are also the disorder times similar to DSL from Telekom.
and the speed display in the router at cable is only the value the provider has set and has nothing to do with connection quality.
Hello,
I start with the answer – the change is worth it. :
Why? Simply put, a connection that might be a bit slower, ABER is stable for it.
Of this you have more than a fast connection that stops or It’s got failures.
And then the better choice for studying. ;

As long as it is not clear whether the problems really come from the provider and not from the wlan, no change of provider should be recommended here.
The Vodafone Support has offered me to switch to DSL with a line from Telekom.
Of course, that is also an option. I had understood it differently now because you called us.
A change of technique seems to be a good choice after your description.
