Riding Icelandic horses (tölt)?
Hello 👋🏻,
I'd like to learn the tölt aids, but I haven't found anything about it online. I've tölted before, but you just have to hold the reins short and lean back.
I'd like to know because I'm moving to a farm with Icelandic horses and would like to find out a bit more about it. I've read several non-fiction books about it, but haven't found anything really relevant.
Therefore, I would be very happy about your help 💗 🙏🏻
Thank you ❤️
You will certainly learn there, you cannot really explain that:)
There is no general answer. Every horse is on some other help. More, less stable.
With some read-on tips, you’re just blaming yourself anyway. Keep in touch with the riding instructor or owner of the horse, who has received your previous experience, and let you pick up where you stand. I hope you’ll get lessons.
To do this, even if this doesn’t suit you, you’ll have to take concrete lessons on a horse that can actually dance correctly and beside a trainer who can also tell you what to do.
Horses are not cars and therefore they do not have a standardized gearshift.
The Icelandic horses can get the Tölt by themselves. You don’t have to teach them. So if there’s real Icelandic horses on the farm, they’ll show you the Tölt, not turned around.
I know, but I would like to know the help for it, as I find it very interesting at the moment.
