Is WiFi faster than LAN?

So, first of all, this is my boyfriend's PC, which is already pretty weird in itself. However, I'm wondering why he's getting about 40 Mbps download speed over LAN and 84 Mbps over WiFi. On top of that, Epic is downloading at about 4 MB over his WiFi? Does anyone know why his WiFi is faster than his LAN? 😰

Maybe I should mention that it has LAN via the socket 🥲

dLAN is a 50/50 game, as already mentioned. Can run well, but don’t have to. If it’s the only way to do it, it’s bad luck. In any case, the whole thing does not place anywhere on a connector strip (both one of the most common mistakes I’ve seen so far) but directly on the can.

If the possibility exists, then of course complete by cable.

perhaps I should mention that he has read about the socket

There’s your problem, Powerline’s crap. Should be real Ethernet.

… that he read about the outlet

This is the reason. LAN via socket, also called dLAN (or also powerline). This technique depends on the distance of the two powerline adapters. And depending on how favorable or unfavorable the lines are laid in the walls, this can work better or worse.

Conclusion:

Powerline can work well, but can also work badly. You have to try. Sometimes it helps to use other outlets to improve. When the sockets run over the same fuse (in the fuse box), it is often better.

Good luck!

Well, if I connect my PC via LAN cable to my WLAN repeater, then I’m not surprised that I still only achieve WLAN speed…
