Is this laptop sufficient for programming?

Hey, I'm starting to study business informatics and need a laptop because I only have one PC.

Is the laptop sufficient? I have a €2,000 PC at home, so I don't want to spend that much on a laptop. x)
I mean, it has 16gb of RAM and you don't program that crazy stuff in this course anyway, I guess, where you need crazy computing power.

Java, Python, C++, C

Take something. Everything under an Intel i.. or Ryzen 3/5 is bullshit, that’s not fun. Believe me.

You can also look around the used market and then take a model from the last 3 years. Just have to look for the battery life.

If 300€ are your budget limit, then I would take a well-used ThinkPad instead.

You will not only get more performance for your money, but also a much better processed device.

I could imagine that you might like a ThinkPad X13S very well, the first generation of the X13S also fits well with your budget.

So at least the 2. should be good for pure programming. The 1st laptop has only two cores, which is already very close.

But I generally agree with Krabat693’s opinion

Well, it’s a low budget.

But programming for simple things doesn’t take much power.

You can try it out and see if everything is running smoothly when you have Word, a browser and the IDE of your choice.

A Raspberry Pi is enough for that. I’ve used it before.
