There are rtl2, eurosport2, kabel2 gave and will not exist.

While many transmitters were to be received via roof antenna, KABEL 1 was the first or one of the first ones to be sent only via cable connection.
There was the name then concept

It wasn’t just numbered, but other stations just called themselves different.

Similarly, RTL (Radio Télévision Luxembourg) has long been sent from Luxembourg, but from Cologne.

“Cable channel” was the first transmitter to be fed into the broadband cable network as a pure cable transmitter. Later they renamed themselves in Cable 1, probably wanted to make it clear that they are the Numbero Uno in the broadband cable network. Or something.
