Is there actually a ban on overtaking cyclists?

From what point onwards you are not allowed to overtake? I think everyone knows that you have to keep a safe distance!

Since – I mean 2020 – a new traffic sign applies to cyclists. If this is set up, an overtaking ban will apply where it stands. Otherwise there is an overhaul ban only for motor vehicles. At least I don’t know anything else.

Whenever you can’t overtake, especially due to the prescribed side distance (1.5m inside, 2m outside) and whenever it is prohibited by the traffic sign 277.1.

This side distance applies to cars that overtake cyclists….not to cyclists who overtake other cyclists.

When meant when cyclists are not allowed to overtake other cyclists you are right. Then I misunderstood the question.

Overtakes a cyclist another cyclist, is a safety distance of one meterbetweenthe bodies of the driving – notbetweenthe handlebars – sufficient.

The place has to be there, becauseparking carpassing, must:sufficientDistancehold. There’s a half-meter when passing.

Otherwise, the solid line forbids overtaking. And on a designated cycle path as well as a wheel track brushed on the road, you cannot observe the predetermined side distances… so the overtaking is virtually impossible.
