Is the SSD compatible with my motherboard?

I don't know if my mainboard asus prime b450m-a has the required slots or similar for the following SSD Samsung 980 PRO M.2 NVMe SSD (MZ-V8P1T0BW), 1 TB.

Here is the link to the SSD: https://amzn.eu/d/aLArtBu

Thank you in advance for your quick help. I really appreciate it when people take the time to answer my sometimes "stupid" questions.

You can just compare the places to the SSD. That should be enough.

Hello,

the motherboard has a matching M2 slot. However, this is connected with PCIe 3.0 and the SSD can PCIe 4.0. This is compatible with each other, but the SSD does not run at maximum speed.

Hi.

so your motherboard has the following connection for a so-called M.2 SSD, according to manufacturer specifications:

1 x
M.2 Socket 3 with M key, type 2242/2260/
2280/22110 storage devices support (SATA & PCIE 3.0 x 4 mode)

https://www.asus.com/de/motherboards components/motherboards/prime/prime-b450m-a/techspec/

The Samsung SSD you want to install has the following form factor:

M.2 2280

https://www.samsung.com/at/memory-storage/nvme-ssd/980-pro-pcle-4-0-nvme-m-2-ssd-1tb-mz-v8p1t0bw/

So this generally fits together. You won’t get the full power because your motherboard doesn’t support PCIe 4.0 of the SSD.

It doesn’t matter, the SSD is down-compatible, but I thought you might want to know anyway.

Yeah, that’s right. According to product description, the motherboard has a m.2 slot.
