Is the data really preserved one-to-one if you zip a folder and then extract it again?
Hello! I wanted to move a folder with important files to my USB stick. Since it's too large, I need to compress it. The folder contains important text files with long combinations of numbers and letters, smaller apps, etc. None of these files can be changed in the slightest.

The answer is: “Yes, e.g. with .zip or .rar” but it is too complex to explain why. Therefore suitable for binary or HTML files or the like.
The answer is: “No if you use .mp3 or divx”, but you do not want to compress audio or video.
As long as no anomaly occurs when packing and unpacking. But that should be extremely rare.
I’m sorry but the mix almost always you need several try I have a folder compressed myself and then it has completely mixed up the safest thing you can do is compress each file individually.
Yes, if it weren’t, no software manufacturer would ever come up with the idea to deliver its software in a ZIP file or to offer it for download. “Function” would be exposed to chance.
It goes without saying, even if it is often incomprehensible for “Laien”, that can be something like this.
For example, I’m sure that my own files and the IMAGE program I use can also save the entire hard drive as a compressed file.
Already had 2x errors in WINDOWS, so I had to unpack this “image” and save it back. That worked wonderful and I’m glad to have found this solution.
Yeah, it’s normal.
Of course. Zip is a loss-free compression.
Yes, at least according to my experience.
I have never heard that data was destroyed or changed only by compression.
