Is part-time retraining permitted and who decides?

Hello,

I'm currently enrolled in a preparatory course that the Federal Employment Agency (Bavaria) has sent me to prepare for retraining. The whole process will last another six weeks, and after that, my caseworker assured me, I'll receive the training voucher.

I'd like to retrain as an IT specialist. I'd like to do it part-time, though. There are many training providers that offer this. The whole process would take three years instead of two. It would, of course, be very helpful.

Are there any prerequisites or can I decide for myself whether I want to do it full-time or part-time?

I'm a young guy and I don't really have a reason for this. It's more so that I have enough time in the afternoon to study on my own. Does the Federal Employment Agency decide this, or do I?

Thank you!

Approval of retraining Jobcenter.

For full or part-time, you yourself.

That’s what the employment agency answers. But if you only do part-time, you only get proportionally the support (unless you get citizen money anyway)

If you are only available for part-time, AlG 1 will also be shortened accordingly
