Is it possible to change careers instead of training?
Hey, I'm currently training to be an IT specialist for application development and am in my second year. However, I'm dissatisfied for several reasons.
For one thing, the training isn't challenging enough for me. Before, I wrote mods and built websites as a hobby, and now I have to program on paper 💀
And secondly, I want to finally have a stable life because my current situation is really shitty, which is why I need a job with a higher salary. My training salary would just about cover an apartment, but that's all I can afford.
Now to my question: Do career changers (with some professional experience through training) have good prospects on the market, or would you say dropping out would be foolish? Perhaps there's an IT professional here who knows a bit about the current job market.
Canceling training is always stupid. Especially if you want to work in the area.
With finished training you always have better opportunities in the labour market and, of course, a better salary.
Computer science is a bit different than all other professions. Due to the fact that good developers usually have suitable things themselves and have no proof on the paper, there are completely different measured values.
So, yes, you can easily enter as a cross-catcher. I quickly got a job more than well paid with a discontinued study. I had only had 7 years of very good sales in self-employment with many references.
And this is also the point why you should continue training. You can get in well as a cross-release, only then, if you don’t have real references, don’t pay well. Then you land in support or as a trainee in a software company.
Without references it is not worth breaking. And with references, I mean several big projects where you have contributed a lot to be actively used and where you have worked in larger teams. If you don’t have this, the training itself is the reference.
So break off when started directly after the SChule, not meaningful:)
In general, breaking is not a good idea so late:) if you want to hear more about my experience here, you can contact us.n
Thanks for the answer. Do you think a Github portfolio with a few projects would be enough?
As a support I would be happy to say
Yes and no. The FRage is always the quality. If you develop yourself, OHNE Team, the code is usually not really good. No comments, very individual, no strict MVC pattern,…
You can try. You don’t need to quit the training:) You can apply. Only if you really change, then you have to quit/dealing employer.
But if you’re short, I’d go through the training. Because the salary is higher, the more you can “prove”.
That’s reasonable. Like I said, if you’re developing alone, that’s different… But everyone also defines variables differently. So this is not so self-explanatory.
But as I said, just don’t cancel, but if you can’t really do with the training, then apply as a permanent worker, then you’ll get feedback.
naja commentary, I never built into my code because I thought it was self-explaining. Then I have a lot to correct
That it wouldn’t be smart has written enough. Then I’ll let that happen, but I’m the same opinion.
Since you’re up in the second year of teaching, it’s probably that since August. You might want to practice in Gedult the more demanding tasks will certainly come. You might be able to speed it up when you, as someone has already said, catch it.
I can understand the desire to stand on my own legs.
The training for this is only then to work is not the true one. You might earn more money right now, but in the longer term it will be much less.
Maybe you should reconsider your approach.
For example, if you’re supposed to move out, you’re entitled to the child’s money.
You can also apply for housing grant.
You can also apply for Bafög as you are in training.
There are some other things I’d have to ask at the employment office nicely and let them be advised.
Much success at “stand on your own feet”.
I can’t get Bafög and I can’t rely on the job center either. Would waive child allowance for 2k/month, but I don’t know if I could get the quick as cross-comers
I’m not looking for the big money
The big money?
You won’t earn that with a training. But it will be more than without and in the long term, where there will be more professional experience.
Current may be 2K a month. But how is it in 10 years? If you might even want to start a family or maybe just don’t just want to hug around month by month over the rounds, then there’s the additional costs that come to it because what’s broken or other things.
But I think you’ve already decided.
Why don’t you work aside? Or talk to your instructor you’re underwhelmed and have already done better things.
Even with a minijob it would not be enough, the rents are extremely expensive
Take the training, you’re in the second year of teaching. You’ll regret it later. After training you have something solid and can do what you want. You pack it. I was in the same situation. Look at my asking three years ago….
A break would be mega-dumm.
You’re gonna screw up your resume and your professional perspectives.
I thought you could get a degree at the IHK later?
But yes, on the CV it doesn’t look so good
