Is it possible to catch viruses via Signal Messenger?

Today, I received a chat request from an unknown user via Signal. Since I rarely use Signal, I accidentally archived the message instead of deleting it. As soon as I tapped the message in the archived section, the chat opened with two buttons: "Block" or "Delete." Of course, I deleted the message.

Since I also use my smartphone for online banking, would it be possible to catch viruses by accidentally archiving and opening the chat?
