Is it normal that my ISP's IP address hasn't changed for a year?
I haven't received a new IP address from my ISP for a full year now. At least when I access the internet without encryption, the IP address always stays the same.
It had been the same for longer periods before, but never for such an extremely long period…
Is this still normal or should I think about changing provider?
And what could be the reason for this?
In the past, the interruption was technically necessary to generate a billing data set daily.
This also gave a new IPv4. This is no longer necessary at times of Carrier-Grade-NAT, since the corresponding data acquisition on the provider side works completely differently anyway.
The address will be assigned to the terminal (router) immediately if it has not been otherwise assigned in the short time period – which is quite unlikely.
Then it would be more or less everywhere and not just at my home? However, if I use the Internet with my colleagues, the IP continues to change after each reset….
I have the same IP address for eternity. I’ve been playing with AI for a while and I’ve been questioning one because I didn’t think much about it:
However, what the AI writes about glass fiber connections is once again complete nonsense.
😂 accurately, the number of available IPv4 addresses is increased by the expansion of glass fiber.
… usually a router restart is enough and if the IP does not change, then it is also good. However, I do not see a reason only for an IP address change willing to restart the router and not at all, so to change the provider.
I can restart the router until I get black, the IP remains the same. Even when the internet has failed for almost 2 days last, there was no change….
Well, weird, but I’m not surprised at IPv4 addresses anymore. For IPv6, more…
I’m 100% sure I’m talking about IPV4. She starts with a nine.
Without knowing your ISP, what is so bad about doing nothing illegal?
For example, the ideal is for operating a home server.
It is not about the question whether it is “slim” or whether I have something illegal, but I would simply be interested in the more detailed backgrounds of it and why, for example, this is not the case with other people. Previously, the IP address changed every time I pulled the plug from the router…
