Is it allowed to visit the LHC particle accelerator during a particle collision?

The LHC particle accelerator is the largest in the world. Because I want to write a story, I need to know if it's possible to visit a particle accelerator while it's in operation.

Take a look here:

It is probably possible to visit CERN during experiments, but even then you will not be able to get directly to the core of the experiments.

You can probably look somewhere to see if there are guided tours or something…

No, no one can go down while the accelerator is running. Visitors can only go down during longer scheduled breaks.

You can always visit everything on the surface.
