Is it allowed to keep platypuses in Europe?

Hey everyone!!!

I just love platypuses. But I've never seen one in a zoo or anything. Now I'm guessing that platypuses aren't even allowed to be kept in Europe. Is that true?

If so, can you only see platypuses in Australia?

Are they protected?

Or do you know a zoo that has platypuses?

Thank you for your answers 😊!

I saw one in the Wuppertal Zoo for years. The import is certainly not allowed and the posture is difficult because you need a plant with running water (Bach) and land.

As I have learned, today there are beak animals only in Zoos Australia.

I’ve looked up now and found that there are beak animals only in zoos in Australia.

Since I am over 60 years old, animal welfare laws are now changing. 🤷

At YouTube, there are webcams that show 24/7 life in such a beak animal enclosure, live!

Not as a private person. In addition, most children who want this only know Perry the beak animal and know nothing about his poisonousness.

go to Innsbruck in the Alpenzoo!

or in a “normal” zoo: do you think elephants, zebras, giraffes, crocos are not wild animals?

I think the conditions of posture are so complex that it will hardly be possible. I also believe that their biology is far too little to guarantee an environment and nutrition that can be lived for them.
