Is being a Lufthansa pilot a dangerous job?

I have to slowly decide what I want to work as, and would like to work as a commercial pilot for Lufthansa, as I am very interested in aviation. But on Google I found a book of the 10 most dangerous professions. AND PILOT IS ONE OF THEM! But the airplane is one of the safest means of transportation in the world! So a truck driver, for example, should be more at risk, right? Now I'm totally confused,

please give me your opinions. THANKS

Every profession is kind of dangerous. We are constantly in danger!
I want to be a pilot too. With the car on the way to work fatalized is much more likely… In addition, you still have an approximately 70% chance of survival in a crash!!! Get a pilot! The absolute dream job!

Yes pilot belongs to it, because you are responsible for your passengers and you also have little chance to survive if there is something. You get a lot of money on that. You get about 90,000 euros per year.

The profession “Pilot” is, of course, not dangerous, but should not be worse than 1.2.
Then you’ll have to study and get someone to the co-pilot.
After a further examination and a certain professional experience as a co-pilot, you are a fully trained pilot.
For the profession, you need a high degree of invalidity and a long-term training, which is not so easy to become a pilot 🙂

(Most aircraft crashes 99.99^% are due to machine or material errors.)

2 things wrong:

1: As a pilot you do not have to study, there is a ticket + receipt from the corresponding airline

2: The mechanical and material faults also go back to people, and in a fairly large part of the accidents the pilots are principally responsible.

The training for this ticket, the so-called ATPL, still takes about 2.5 Järchen

Smart sounding quark you wrote there. Unfortunately, most of it is simply wrong.
– Abitur at least 1.2? Who told you that? Even for Lufthansa pilots, you’ll be able to pass the abitur. In private flight schools you can even be accepted with weaker degrees (but is the exception). In a conversation with a flight instructor, I even heard a story with an approved trainee with a primary school degree (after he has often demonstrated his skills; extremely exceptional but apparently possible). But must now be so fair that I don’t know if it was PPL or ATPL.
You don’t have to study if you want to go to LH. The training is enough. But you will be offered the opportunity to study if you really want to choose this way
– it takes a little longer than an exam to get from the FO to the Captain. There is also the SFO in between
– Long-term training? You can define how you want for long years, but 2 years are not long years for me
– many crashes (or even most people) are due to human failure. So your number of 99.99% is just wrong

It is more likely that you suffer a heart attack by the stress of the constantly changing day-night Rythmus and by the general stress than you crash.

And it is also more likely that you will be captured by a car on your way to work.

So get a pilot if you like it.

Dangerous because you are most likely paying for an unlikely crash with death. In contrast, a accountant or librarian can make mistakes as he wants, he will survive professional disasters (except heart attack).

Hello Patoente22,

all the pilots at Lufthansa known to me feel very comfortable. You don’t need to worry about security. Do not consider the profession very dangerous.

No, the pilot’s profession is definitely not dangerous. At least not more dangerous than other professions.

I don’t know who the author of this book is, but he seems to have very little idea.

Apart from working conditions and related training, it is a great profession. I myself work on air traffic control and I am very satisfied.

Statistically, the airspace is the safest transport area.

If you have the chance to become a pilot!!!

Dangers lurk everywhere, you have to take it with humor. If you are on the road with the truck unbraked on the highway and are inadvertent, you are dead or disabled.

When a plane crashes, you’re dead in 3 minutes. So the effect is the same…

Jaaaaaa!!!

Absolutely!!!

You have to get to the airport somehow,
– and on the way to work happens a lot compared to flying.

I’m sure you’re not until you sit in the plane.

I found another list. The list is only 50 seats long, Pilot is not there.

Not everything anyone writes on the Internet is right.

Does this also apply to this contribution? …

  1. You can find out about the profession of the pilot on various websites.
  2. The adjustment test is very hard and this is not only about English, but also spatial conception and also multitasking faeces. There are only about 10 per cent of the recruitment test.
  3. Lufthansa is about to reduce the personnel in the cockpit.
  4. A job like this is always dangerous and very responsible.
  5. Tip: Find another job if you have to ask.

The problem is simply latent, but the plane is the safest means of transport is just a point that is converted to the people.-KM per flight. In the plane, a lot of people will be transported thousands of kilometres of accident-free, while in the traffic there is an accident when you let these people go as far as the plane.

However, if the accident occurs, the consequences are significantly greater than the accidents in the car or truck.

You have a lot of responsibility as a pilot.

You’re right, but I think the questioner’s responsibility wasn’t when I understood the question correctly…
