Is a normal software update of the engine control unit mandatory?
The following:
The repair shop says there's an update for my engine control unit. Without a letter, without a callback, they'll install it alongside the actual repair. Am I obligated to do it?
The receptionist at the dealership said "absolutely," which I can't imagine. It makes sense for the warranty, but otherwise, it would be my decision, right?
The update deals with the lambda value, which has to do with exhaust gases, and I would be reluctant to agree to this too quickly and would wait for an official recall.

Nein, musst du nicht machen! Handelt es sich um eine kritische Veränderung, die zum besseren CO2-Ausstoß führen würde, dann gäbe es eine Rückrufaktion. Nur so könnte man dein Fahrzeug auch stilllegen, wenn du der Aktion nicht nachgehst.
Du hast durch das Update ja keinen Nachteil, wo ist dein Problem? Würde man es dir nicht sagen sondern einfach machen, würdest du noch nichteinmal merken das es durchgeführt wurde

Für ein update gibt es keinen rückruf,es ist normal das sowas beim werkstattaufenthalt erledigt wird…ob man da widersprechen kann weiß ich allerdings auch nicht..denke wenn es dein gekauftes fahrzeug ist ja,bei leasing nein
Warum kein Update machen? Updates sind wichtig. Einen Rückruf halte ich für unwahrscheinlich. Aber abgesehen davon, bekommst du das Update ja durch die Garantie eh gratis.
Ein solches Update würde man auch nach der Garantiezeit noch gratis bekommen…

Dann aber eher Softwareupdates des Infotainmentsystems und des Kartenmaterials, da hier ein Update nicht zwingend vorgeschrieben ist.
Wichtige Updates der Motorsteuerung, die vom Hersteller vorgeschrieben sind und im Rahmen der Inspektion erledigt werden, sind auch nach Garantieende kostenlos.
Ja stimmt. Ich denke da kommt es ganz auf das Update selbst an.
Wenn der Wagen nicht mehr in der Garantie-/Gewährleistungzeit ist, bzw. sich in deinem Besitz befindet, kannst du dass SW-Update ohne Weiteres ablehnen.
