Is €3200 net a good salary for a single person?

I'm 31, have an apprenticeship, then completed a part-time technical training course, and work a 35-hour week according to the IG Metall wage agreement. I currently earn €3,200 net. Is that appropriate for a technical team leader in southeast Bavaria? And no, I don't want to brag, which is why I'm asking anonymously.

Generally, you are in the upper class with such a salary. Whether it’s enough for your profession and qualification, you’ll have to find out yourself. But if you’re paid according to tariff, it’ll have to fit.

That is why it also generally makes sense not to compare the net salary but to compare the gross salary. Because when talking about net salary, you must also talk about personal expenses. And if you now have 2000 € issues a month then the salary is not much.

Remember that you get more pay when you lower your expenses.

Okay, you’re right, I need to fix myself. 4000 € net are the threshold to the upper layer.

Still, you’re still in top class. ECT

Find this always very funny – for me, it’s really okay. Then comments like: more average and if you have to do with the users here, 3 euros per day are already too much to spend. So either there are stone-rich or barely-poor people 🙂

It’s good until there’s a higher salary average of 4.187€ gross.

At 3200 net it cannot be 4187 brutto

How to say that without tax class, denomination, allowances, BAV, taxable benefits … etc.

Let’s finally learn that you can only compare and/or evaluate gross salaries.

But what Alex writes is still right. You can only compare gross containers. The net results from your personal situation, which is not identical to others. Whether your net is good for YOU, you have to decide yourself.

What counts is what you have at the end of the month.

Then the question has to be formulated differently:

Can you live well from 3100€ in xy as a single?

In this case, however, your expenses are missing. Do you live in the home? Paid? Loans? Car? Daily way of work? Other obligations?

This is OK, with us, academics get more immediately after their graduation even without team leadership.

With team management, we are in the 6-digit range, but the different qualifications and professional experience will also play a role. That’s – I think – clear.

Overall, a solid basis with quite potential to grow, except one is satisfied with it.
