iPhone software update?

Hey,

I actually didn't want to do the software update on my phone, but the automatic download setting was probably on. I have an iPhone 16 Pro, and it's been downloading the latest software update for several hours now. Right now, I just see the black screen with the iPhone logo, and the bar is at the very end. But it's been like this for an hour. What can I do? Is there a way to cancel the update? Or any other alternative. Thanks in advance.

Best regards

Hello!

It seems that your iPhone is in the last phase of the software update, but apparently there is a problem that prevents it from closing. If the bar is almost at the end and hasn’t done anything for an hour, you can try some things to solve the problem.

### 1. Force restart**

If your iPhone no longer reacts, a restart can help to fix the problem. How to do a forced restart:

– **iPhone 8 and later** (including iPhone 16 Pro):

– Quickly press the Lauter button.

– Quickly press the Leiser button.

– Then hold the side button (Power button) until the Apple logo appears. Let the button go.

Your iPhone should restart. It may be that it completes the update or it goes to the recovery mode if it’s stuck.

### 2. **If the update continues to hang: recovery mode**

If the restart does not help and your iPhone still hangs in the update process, you can try the **Restore Mode**:

– Enable recovery mode:**

1. Connect your iPhone to a computer and open **iTunes** (on a Mac with macOS Mojave or older) or **Finder** (on a Mac with macOS Catalina or later).

2. Set the iPhone as described above in the forced restart (but keep the buttons longer until you see the screen with the iTunes logo and the cable).

3. When the recovery mode is detected, select the option to install the **Update**. The software is downloaded and installed again without deleting your data.

### 3.

Canceling the update directly is usually not easy without going to recovery mode and reinstalling the software. If you do not want to lose any data, make sure that you regularly backup (e.g. in iCloud or via iTunes/Finder on your computer).

### 4.

If the bar is almost at the end, it could be that the iPhone needs a little time to complete the update. Even if it takes a long time, it can still successfully complete.

### Conclusion

First try the restart to see if the update is continued or completed. If this does not help, go to recovery mode to repair or complete the update.

I hope this will help you! Good luck!

I don’t want to make an update. Can only wait, otherwise it could be critical.
