iPhone in water?

Yesterday afternoon, my phone fell into water. At first, there were no problems, but later that evening, I noticed water in the lens, and now (the next morning) it regularly turns itself off and on again (reboots). If I try to turn it off completely, it automatically turns itself back on. My sound is also gone (although I can make calls without the speakerphone).

Can this problem be solved at home or do I have to send it in for repair?

A water damage is pretty much the worst thing that can happen. If you don’t have an AppleCare+ worth repairs at Apple as well as never, it would anyway go out to a complete replacement of the device, as you always have to expect the device to be able to cope with consequential damage for months later.

If it’s broken on eBay, as long as it’s still partially running and you’re getting a new one, so you’re most likely to get out.

There only helps repair and hope that the damage already caused is not too great.

Of course you can do a repair yourself, that is possible and allowed. For example, look at ifixit by instructions. However, this is not quite trivial.

Mobile phones in the water are such a topic. Important rules of thumb: turn off immediately, do not turn on again, do not load, first let dry, thoroughly clean. drying can take 2-3 days. Otherwise exactly what happened.
