I'd say that's normal.

A smartphone is (as the name says) in a phone. And also it is camera and internet tweezer.

A SIM card offers (historically viewed) the possibility to call mobile and send short messages. But not at the same time, only in succession. After the smartphone had become established, the providers have created the possibility to send data via the SIM card.

These are 2 different services. Can't be used at the same time. It's so.🤷 ♂️

This is completely normal if Voice over LTE is not activated. Go to settings > Mobile phone > Data options > Language & data and activate VoLTE there.

If you don't see the option there, your tariff doesn't support this. Then change better into a more modern fare. The vast majority now has VoLTE.
