iOS 18 update download takes hours?

Hey,

The following problem is driving me crazy. I wanted to pair my new Apple Watch with my iPhone 11, but it hasn't updated to iOS 18 yet. I have no idea why it didn't happen automatically, it's been out for a while now. But sometimes you have to agree first… In any case, the download has been taking over two hours. Is there enough storage, is the phone plugged in, and is it connected to a good Wi-Fi network?!
I restarted it an hour ago, but the only result was that it started downloading the update all over again. What can I do to help my iPhone get started? It usually takes half an hour at most.

You can manually update it via iTunes. Download the iPSW file on ipsw.me and connect your iPhone. Then select your iPhone in iTunes and click “Update” or “Update” with the Shift button pressed. Then search the file and then paste it into iTunes, morbid window that has opened.

With a current iOS version you don’t need to download anything anywhere! This automatically makes the corresponding Apple app. And ipsw.me connects only to the Apple servers anyway. 🤷

But you need the iPSW file for manual updaten. The download goes via iTunes as well, but I have often found that this will cause problems.
