Internet slow?

Good morning,

I'm having trouble using our internet's full speed. My internet is limited to 100 Mbps. My PC is connected to our FRITZ!Box 7590 via LAN cable. While I can only access the internet at 100 Mbps, others are connected at speeds as high as 1000 Mbps.

What could be causing this? I've already configured everything in the Fritzbox user interface so that I could theoretically receive 1 Gbps. Is it the cable? Unfortunately, I don't know what kind of cable I have, but it's an old one.

Or something else? It annoys me that I can't use our fast download.

Thanks for the help!

I guess it’s on your LAN cable. It should have the category CAT 5e or CAT 6, then you can easily create a 1000 megabits per second network connection to your Fritzbox from your computer.

And then you can finally complete the nearly 300 megabits per second Internet bandwidth in the download direction!

One of the endless network cables: https://kabeldirekt-store.de/products/cat6-utp-kabelnet?variant=44925990502665&currency=EUR

My Internet is limited to 100Mbit/s.

hmmmm…. it’s not “dein” internet, but you’re just a small part of the internet.

And this also does not limit “dein” internet, but either your local network or your connection to your provider’s network. (Beides is not the Internet!)

No, you can only use the local network with 100MBit/s. And this is due to the setting of the port on the Fritzbox, which is set here probably to 100MBit/s (Eco operation) instead of 1GBit/s. If you have a slower connection between the computer and the router, you should be self-explanatory.
