Boarding school in Germany as a Swiss citizen?
I'm 17 and from Switzerland, and I'd like to live in Baden-Württemberg, preferably near Karlsruhe. I'm wondering if that's possible, since my parents don't have a lot of money (lower middle class). My grandparents are wealthier, though, so they could probably afford it. Moving into an apartment on my own would be too early, and I'm still in school and therefore have no income. Perhaps there's a boarding school, but they're expensive.
Is it still possible somehow?
No, it’s not possible. There is no reason that a boarding school will cost your Wuensche, just because you want to go to the vicinity of your internet friend. Internat also does not mean “own apartment”, but also accommodation “under control” with corresponding housing rules in the boarding school itself.
But if your grandparents can and want to pay, they are free to financially support you. Only a little support is not enough. Look for “dein” boarding school if your parents agree.
If you are gifted, you will not ask for a special city, but for a boarding school in which your gifts are shot. And yes, (only) then you can even come to one of the most expensive internates with a small income from parents with a little glueck.
In CH, the incomes AFAIK are average approx. 1.6x as high as in D. So first look at the actual prices in D.
But remember that until you 18 you need the signatures of your parents. Search on the Internet for example for the situation of underage students.
I also don’t know how well your school knowledge is compatible with the curriculum in BW. You’d have to deal with the relevant school office. Where KA is not so far away from other federal states, where everything is different with regard to school…

Of course, you can sign up to a German boarding school, but that costs. If you can’t afford or want to do this, this is not an option at the place (and be too early, a separate apartment or WG accommodation is realistically seen much more expensive than a boarding school).
Scholarships or something for internates of this kind are not available
