Install SSD?
Hello, about half a year ago I replaced my 500GB M.2 SSD with a 1000GB one, and I cloned the data beforehand. (I was still using a laptop.)
Unfortunately my laptop was stolen and I have now bought a desktop PC.
My question is whether I can install the old 500GB SSD in my PC and whether it is a problem that the old data from the laptop is still on it.
I assume that you have already had the new desktop in operation.
Then its hard drive or partition with the operating system on it (probably windows) is also the boot medium.
The old SSD doesn’t bother. However, if there is a disturbance, i.e. the computer hangs up or tries to boot from the old SSB, just download GParted and put the check on “Boot” on the board/partition to be booted.
So just screw in ssd, delete data and it’s okay?
Exactly ^
No problem when the desktop is properly booted from its original plate.
Hello,
yes – you can also install the M2 in your PC. The prerequisite is that the motherboard supports this type SSD.
Ideally, then format the SSD.
LG
No, that shouldn’t be a problem.
You can then re-format the SSD in the partition manager (so your old data deletion) and use the SSD as before.
Does it only delete the data of the SSD or the others?
Only on the SSD you selected.
You’ll see that’s clearly what you’re doing.
Formatting installations and data storage management.
I’d just let them in, more storage is always going. I have 2 SSD and 2 HDD in it.
I don’t think you read the question correctly…
Oh, no, I didn’t say that, of course, I meant to put them in.
I have also made them cumbersome
