Install LAN driver?
I just installed Windows on my new, pre-built PC. To complete the installation, I need a LAN or Wi-Fi connection. I've already connected my LAN cable, but the PC doesn't recognize the network (see photo). I think I need a driver, right? How do I install it? With a USB stick? My motherboard is an MSI B550-A Pro, and I think that's important.
You don’t need it. You can also transfer the network connection.
Press STRG + F10 and enter OOBE\BYPASSNRO – the setup restarts and you can now set up the computer with a local account
If the network connection otherwise works with another device on the connection: yes
Otherwise you have to see that your network works properly
Get the driver over the manufacturer’s side and another device and copy it to a USB stick
You put down the drivers on another PC/Notebook (e.g. the board manufacturer) pack them on a stick and then install them on the new PC
If I download the driver on my laptop it’s a ZIP file, do I have to unpack it? Because if I plug the USB stick into the Pc the file is not displayed
I wrote “pack them on a stick”. What do you think I wrote that?
You can transfer the zip and unpack it on the new PC. you have left
The LAN driver is present and works.
That’s why your PC also says “unidentified network”
The error message implies that your PC has not received an IP address.
So the problem seems to be on your network. Where’s the other end of the LAN cable?
If the installed Windows did not have a driver, how could it display “unidentified network”? The driver is there for Windows to use the network card…. And it does.
What does not answer here is your router!
It was my fault. I have no idea about this and used the wrong Lan connection on my router 🙂
I don’t hope the mostly colored DSL port, because there the router connection (the cable from the TAE) is not in it, you don’t get into the Internet. Doesn’t mean your Lankan can’t have been connected wrongly. Which Lanport you use doesn’t matter.
