Initialized disk not showing in Explorer?
Hey people,
I installed another SSD in my PC, and it was recognized immediately, so I was able to initialize it in Disk Management. It now correctly shows as "online" there. My problem is, even after rebooting, it's not visible in Explorer. I'm a bit lost and not a huge tech whiz, but if anyone has an idea, I'd be happy to hear it.
PS: Windows 10 🙂

Hello
Only a new MBR or a new GPT on the disk. In this case, no partition is created on the data carrier and entered into the partition table of the MBR or into the GPT. The partition table is therefore still empty.
However, a partition is necessary on the disk because only partitions are displayed in the Explorer and no physical drives. And only partitions can also be formatted with a file system.
Thus, you would have to create one or more new partitions on the newly initialized data carrier in which “not allocated” Storage area. The newly created partitions are then also displayed in the Explorer and can then also be formatted with a file system. Then you can save data there.
However, you can only use the SSD to store personal data such as images, text files, videos, music and so on. If you also want to boot Windows from the SSD and start programs from it, then you would have to clone your Windows installation to the SSD, with a corresponding clone tool or Windows would have to be completely reinstalled on the SSD, including all drivers and programs.
