Vaccinations because of training?
Hello, I'm about to start my training as a dental assistant on October 1st. The dentist said I still need to get vaccinations. I handed in my vaccination record yesterday and just got a call saying I should get the hepatitis B and tetanus vaccinations, but I've had those since I was younger. I then called my pediatrician and he said I wouldn't have a tetanus booster until 2027 and that I already have all 4 hepatitis B vaccinations, so do I need another one?
Hepatitis B can be refreshed with medical personnel, even if this is otherwise considered unnecessary in Germany.
You’re 17 years old and, according to your pediatrician, you’re not supposed to do your next tetanus vaccination until 2027. Then you’d be 20 or 21 years old. This is a very unusual age in the STIKO vaccination scheme.
For Tetanus+Diphterie+Keuchusten there are usually 3 vaccinations as a baby, one with 5 or 6 and another as a teenager. I can understand if someone thinks you should have a total of 5 at your age.
Your pediatrician should have set up 10-year-old periods, that’s all right. Then your last vaccination would have been 10, which would be a delayed vaccination. Your parents wouldn’t have followed the vaccination plan.
That is why the confusion should come.
With hepatitis, I can’t understand it because you didn’t write an annual number. I could imagine that the confusion has the same cause. Hepatitis B is combined as a combination vaccine with the Tetenus vaccinations already mentioned in babies.
The health insurance is likely to pay for tetanus vaccination, as for your age the 5th is in the STIKO plan and as an indication vaccination for medical staff you also pay that you refresh the hepatitis B vaccination every 10 years.
Well, hepatitis, you’d have to do it anyway. You’re talking to the dentist about vaccination against Tetanus. Maybe you’ve gotten out of it.
but the pediatrician said that I had all four of them would have to do another five? isn’t that too much?
Did the pediatrician just want to inoculate you four times against Tetanus before the 18th?
You have to explain this to the doctor. You should go to the doctor. You’re getting too old for the pediatrician.
Yeah, okay. Then do that.
I’m 18 in a month and I’ll go to the family doctor.
explain this again with dental practice. they have read it wrong in the impfpass.
Let you confirm this and show it.
